Hey there, fellow fabric lovers! 🌈 Today, I’m bursting with excitement to share my latest adventure in the world of quilting — repurposing those oh-so-adorable fabric scraps! If you’re anything like me, you know that after a quilting session, you’re left with a delightful pile of leftovers that just scream for a new purpose. So, let’s dive into the fun of transforming those bits and pieces into something fabulous!

Featuring: Aurifil Rustic Chic by Aaronica Cole
For this project, I used my new Aurifil Collection by Aaronica Cole of Needle & The Belle featuring 10 small spools of gorgeously vibrant 50wt thread. I love thread sets for branching out and trying new colors that typically intimidate me and the variegated choices here are just that!
As an Aurifil Artisan, I was gifted this set to complete a project with and highly recommend it if you do a lot of garment sewing, domestic machine quilting, or decorative bindings!
For this project, I used the green variegated thread (4653 - Spring Prairie) for piecing the improv quilt panels using my fabric scraps of various colors and made a really big dent in the Mustard colored (5022 - Mustard) while quilting and top stitching the webbing.

The Around The Block Tote
After sharing this project to Instagram, I started getting requests for an official pattern. While I'm not quite sure on the debut of the pattern, I can confirm that it will be in the works soon, so be on the lookout!
What started as a fun way for me to use up my fabric scraps turned into putting my spin on one of my favorite quilting necessities: the big blue bag from IKEA! If you know me in real life, you know that I own several and that they get used and abused. I carry many quilts at once and even use them to transport my Juki around! The thing that I don't love, however, is the sound of crinkling. I'm someone who gets overstimulated pretty easily, and having a giant bag adding to the sound cap around me is something that can probably be avoided.. so I made my very own franken-designed version using my favorite material: fabric!
I kept pretty similar dimensions but ultimately wanted to create something strong, sturdy, and spacious, forgoing any bells and whistles like hardware or pockets.
Stay on the lookout for the pattern coming soon!
